How do you turn a mini whinnie into a necklace?

Mini whinnie necklaces are one of the most fun things you can make with your model horses. Not only are they a creative way to use your minis but they also look gorgeous as well.

Turning a mini whinnie into a necklace is a relatively simple process, here is a quick step by step guide so that you can have a go.

Supplies Needed

🐴 Mini Whinnie Model Horse
🐴 Wire
🐴 Necklace Chain

Advanced option:

🐴 Sheep Eye Nail
🐴 Dremel with small drill bit
🐴 Glue

We are going to go through two methods in order to create your necklace. Either method works well, although the advanced option gives you a nicer finish.

Basic Method

The first thing you will need to do is ensure your mini whinnie is clear and, if you want, paint your model to a new colour.

We are going to be using this little mini whinnie here

Now get your necklace change and your wire. Feed your wire through the centre of the chain and wind it around itself.

Alternative option: If you want the horse to be loose on the chain add a small jump ring onto the chain and wrap your wire around this instead.

Cover the wrapping by adding a little bead, I've gone for this cute wooden one

Now get the ends of your wire and wrap them around your model. Secure them by using pliers to tie them in a knot under the model.

You now have a cute little model horse necklace!

Advanced Option

For the advanced option you will need either a dremel or a small hand drill. Use this to make a hole in the withers of your model.

Now fill this hole with superglue and insert a sheep eye nail into the hole. Leave it there to set.

Now you can add a jump ring through the sheep eye and feed your necklace chain through it.

This same method can be used to create all kinds of jewellery and ornaments, including earrings! Enjoy :D

Buggy

This is another BF model that I forgot to Blog about so I'm just catching up on

Buggy is a limited edition model that is available to online ticket holders only. That means that you will have to purchase him online from Breyer during the BreyerFest weekend

He is a glossy bay blanket spotted on the Django mould and is absolutely beautiful. I love the roany spotted colour that Breyer do, especially when it is glossy!

Studebaker

I just realised I never shared this one! Clearly I'm living in my own happy world of forgetting to write Blog posts

Studebaker is a limited edition model that is available online only. That means you'll need to purchase her online through the Breyer website during BreyerFest weekend

She is a palomino pinto on the Shagya Arabian mould. A bit too yellowy gold for me but I can see her being popular with others

Meet Jerry and Tesla

I started both of these little pewters a very very long time ago! But they are both done *yay* ready to enter some shows in 2023.

Both are micro subscription horses by Maggie Bennett

First up is CRS Prófið aka Tesla

Tesla is a Lyskra pewter and is a cute little Icelandic in silver dapple. I am really upset with this model, her colour was amazing and then when I put a layer of sealant over the grey it turned yellow!!! I will at some point repaint that bit, but it was so pretty before the yellowing :(

Second we have CRS Jeremy in Love (Jerry)

Jerry is a Timken resin that has been painted to a chestnut pinto. I do not own a resin paint horse so I was determined that this guy had to be pinto. I'm actually so happy with the colour, the white is beautiful, there is some lovely shading on the chestnut and he has a cute pink nose and blue eyes. Most adorable.

Best of BreyerFest Stablemate Set

This year's Best of BreyerFest Stablemate set has been revealed!

A beautiful set, let's have a look at each individual model.

First we have Singletree who was inspired by Honky Tonk

Next we have Liverpool who was inspired by Music Row

Now Whippletree inspired by Opry

Then we have Landau who was inspired by Minnie Pearl

And finally Hames, inspired by Walk of Fame

My favourite has to be Liverpool, the colour is just beautiful and I do have a bit of a soft spot for that mould. I also love the use of some of the newer shrinkie moulds, the colour on Hames is beautiful.

I'm catching up on a few of the BreyerFest reveals over the next few days, ones that I missed due to the lurgy.

First up is the crystal, Phaeton

Absolutely beautiful, I love this mould and it looks incredible in crystal

I will definitely be adding this one. I adore the crystals.
