New Customs

Look I fixed my camera! Go me :D I have a few new customs to share with you today, all finished over the last few weeks. They include some sales pieces as well as another finished resin to add to my collection.

First up we have CRS Werewolf Feud

Feud is a Maggie Bennett Brightside resin

She has been painted to a lovely bloody shoulder grey. I am really in love with this model, her colour is just to die for!

Her less bloody side :D

Next up we have a little Breyer Mini Whinnie Gypsy Vanner. This little cutey has been painted to a cremello. Isn't he the squishiest?

And finally we have a CollectA Belgium Mare. I have been working on this one for over seven months! We don't need to talk about how much white went on her. I used Stuart Semple's White (the experiment strains) to create the white markings. They are nice and liquidy which makes them great for painting whites and after like 7 million coats you do end up with seriously bright white markings!

If you like the last two they are both for sale here: https://www.chestnutridge.co.uk/store/c3/custom-finish#/

Feud isn't for sale though, she is staying with me forever. And ever. And ever. And ever. And ever. And ever. And you get the picture :D

BreyerFest Workshops

Breyer have announced some of the workshops for this year's BreyerFest and of course, I want to do EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM!

https://www.breyerhorses.com/pages/workshops-breyerfest-2021

I love workshops, tutorials or anything like that. Give me a craft kit and send me on my way and I'm happy. So by far my favourite thing about BreyerFest is the workshops. Last year Brendon and I cleared the coffee table and sat down to do all kinds of weird and wonderful things. My favourite was the key chains we created:

So of course the moment I saw the workshops for this year I became stupidly excited about all the things I am going to get to create.

But which ones to do? Of course I want to do all of them but my top choices are:

  1. Canvas Tote Creations
  2. Christmas Ornaments
  3. Dynamic Manes & Tails (for like the millionth time :p)
  4. Sculpting Manes and Tails
  5. Mini Performance: Trail Riding
  6. Painting Faces
  7. Repairing Horses (I did this one last year and it was really useful)
  8. Stablemate Lamps (so excited about this one)
I suspect some of these are a bit of a repetition of last years but I don't mind. What I'm really hoping they do is run some live ones, like with Breyer Bootcamp, so you can actually sit on Zoom and make along. That would be really exciting!

Which ones will you guys be taking part in? Let me know! They all look so good it's almost impossible to choose!

Four New Customs

First of all I must apologise for the poor photography, I'm not properly set up yet (the whole model horse situation is just chaos and disaster right now) so I can't take decent pictures! I'm trying to persuade the husband to actually sort out the pony room so I can get some decent pictures soon!

The one advantage of the NaMoPaiMo parties has been that I've actually been able to get on with some customs. All of these models were started last June which gives you a bit of an idea as to how behind I actually am with them! I quite like the black but I'm not over the moon with the rest. They are all for sale though and finishing them off means that I can focus on some new models, many of which I'm much happier with so far!

First up is a little mini whinnie foal. She's been painted to chestnut.

For some reason I got the light right for that photo but the rest are awful!

Secondly we have a G3 Peruvian Paso to liver chestnut tobiano. This model was originally a plain liver chestnut but had to have a colour change after I spilt white paint on him. As you do. Anyway he's now tobiano!

Third we have a black G4 Driving. This model has lots of shading that you can't really see due to the darkness of the photos. Once I get set up properly I'll redo these glamour shots!

And finally the unicorn. This is an odd one as it changes colour depending on how hot or cold it is. But it seems a bit stuck at sorta blacky/grey rather than the nice purple! Very much a "I will experiment with random things" model this one may suit some tastes, but not others. I'm sure there is someone out there who will love her!

If you have fallen in love with any of these guys they are all for sale on our website here: https://www.chestnutridge.co.uk/store/c3/custom-finish#/

I'm currently working on the last few that were started last year and a few new ones including a gorgeous bloody shoulder resin and my NaMoPaiMo horse of course!
