Best of BreyerFest Stablemate Set

This year's Best of BreyerFest Stablemate set has been revealed!

A beautiful set, let's have a look at each individual model.

First we have Singletree who was inspired by Honky Tonk

Next we have Liverpool who was inspired by Music Row

Now Whippletree inspired by Opry

Then we have Landau who was inspired by Minnie Pearl

And finally Hames, inspired by Walk of Fame

My favourite has to be Liverpool, the colour is just beautiful and I do have a bit of a soft spot for that mould. I also love the use of some of the newer shrinkie moulds, the colour on Hames is beautiful.

Three New Arrivals

These little guys arrived last Tuesday but I didn't get around to photographing them until today.

They are the final international release from the 2023 Stablemate Collectors Club. This includes the Gambler's Choice model.

First up we have Jameson aka CRS Satanic Verses

This beautiful glossy black pinto is just darling. I love his little pink nose.

Second we have the Gambler's Choice Atli aka CRS Rowena

I was a little disappointed with this one as every year except the first year of the Stablemate Club I have received the decorator and I feel it has become somewhat of a tradition. However, the colour on this little guy is lovely and he has some very sweet dapples.

Finally we have the new sculpt, this is Kit aka CRS Rights of Man

The colour on this model looks so nice. The beautiful clipped pattern is so unusual! Although those eye whites are a bit much!

Clydesdale Christmas

Breyer started issuing holiday blind bags a few years ago and I've never really thought they were worth the pennies, especially with the cost of international shipping from Breyer.

But this year they have really knocked it out of the park! To be clear I am absolutely OBSESSED with the Stablemate shrinkies and in particular the tiny little Clydesdale Stallion mould. It is honestly the cutest thing EVER! So it goes without saying that I am going to lose my mind over any new shrinkie Clydesdale release. But you then combine that with lush bright Christmassy colours and I am 100% GOING TO LOSE MY MIND!!!

I 10/10 need a COMPLETE SET, I mean just LOOK AT THEM *SCREAMS*

OK so let's focus for a moment and actually talk about the details. Collector's Club members will get early access from 2pm EST Tuesday 16th November 2021 (that is 7pm GMT) until Wednesday. On Wednesday (2pm/7pm) they will be available to everyone. They are limited to two per account and have a limited quantity. Breyer have not released the price but the holiday surprise bags are normally $25 so I think you'd be expecting to pay about that much.

They seem to be super popular (I mean of course they are) so I wouldn't be surprised if they sell out fast! Unfortunately the limit on orders mean that international people can't get together to buy some *internal crying* and save on postage though :(

Which colour is your favourite? Mine is definitely the blue, he is BEAUTIFUL. Let me know your favourite and whether you've managed to grab one in the comments below :D Good luck as always!

Four New Customs

First of all I must apologise for the poor photography, I'm not properly set up yet (the whole model horse situation is just chaos and disaster right now) so I can't take decent pictures! I'm trying to persuade the husband to actually sort out the pony room so I can get some decent pictures soon!

The one advantage of the NaMoPaiMo parties has been that I've actually been able to get on with some customs. All of these models were started last June which gives you a bit of an idea as to how behind I actually am with them! I quite like the black but I'm not over the moon with the rest. They are all for sale though and finishing them off means that I can focus on some new models, many of which I'm much happier with so far!

First up is a little mini whinnie foal. She's been painted to chestnut.

For some reason I got the light right for that photo but the rest are awful!

Secondly we have a G3 Peruvian Paso to liver chestnut tobiano. This model was originally a plain liver chestnut but had to have a colour change after I spilt white paint on him. As you do. Anyway he's now tobiano!

Third we have a black G4 Driving. This model has lots of shading that you can't really see due to the darkness of the photos. Once I get set up properly I'll redo these glamour shots!

And finally the unicorn. This is an odd one as it changes colour depending on how hot or cold it is. But it seems a bit stuck at sorta blacky/grey rather than the nice purple! Very much a "I will experiment with random things" model this one may suit some tastes, but not others. I'm sure there is someone out there who will love her!

If you have fallen in love with any of these guys they are all for sale on our website here: https://www.chestnutridge.co.uk/store/c3/custom-finish#/

I'm currently working on the last few that were started last year and a few new ones including a gorgeous bloody shoulder resin and my NaMoPaiMo horse of course!

Arran

The final Breyer single day Stablemate is Arran:

This is the first release on the new tiny Croi mould so it will be interesting to see what she looks like in the flesh!

I will definitely be trying to get a full set, I can see Breyer's website not loading properly though, I do wish they would increase their server space! It took me 45 minutes to checkout and buy a model on Tuesday...

Anyway, enjoy :D

Skye

Just the mini-Croi to go now! What colour do you think she will be? I'm hoping for a palomino or buckskin, something nice and showable would be good :D

Anyway, Skye is the third BreyerFest single day Stablemate. She is a very lovely dark colour that Breyer are describing as 'silver black' but could possibly also pass for a very dark liver chestnut depending on what she looks like in the flesh.

The more I look at her the more I actually like her. I'm looking forward to owning one of this mould!

Orkney

The second Single Day Stablemate was revealed yesterday. Stablemate number two is a lovely gold pinto on the G2 Clydesdale mould.

Look how shimmery he is!

He is just beautiful!

I can't wait to get this set, I just know they will all be LUSH

Tuesday, 28 April 2020

Jersey

The first Breyer Single Day Stablemate has released and I must say he is rather lush!

This is Jersey:

Look how shiny he is!

Is it bad that as well as getting a full set I want to order some single singles so that I get surprise ponies? Probably.

Unicorns

There is no denying that I love nothing more than painting some unicorns. There is also no denying that sometimes what I decide to create works, and sometimes it doesn't! Sometimes I create something that everyone loves, sometimes I create something that I hate and others love and sometimes I just create "something".

So I've been having great fun over the last few weeks painting some of the unicorns from the new Breyer mystery unicorn sets. Whilst I took the horns off the new moulds I left the old G2 moulds with their horns on and got creative!

And of course I got my specialist paints out, because why not?

So first up is my favourite of the whole bunch. This is a Breyer Stablemate G2 Clydesdale. He has been painted to black and white. He has then had pink ombre added to his mane and given a white stripe and white horn.

He has then had moons added in white base mixed with lit pigment. I have also added this to his tail, horn, back hooves and to his white stripe.

Lit pigment glows even under normal light, but take the light away and you've got one seriously glowy horse!

Number two was a bit of an experiment. For some reason I decided to do the base colour in colour shift paint on top of white primer. This created an unusual glazed look, in green!

I then dd the shading in a paint called "Blood for the Blood God". This is a technical paint that is designed to basically replicate blood. When sprayed through it creates a translucent and slightly shiny effect. It looks rather cool!

And because all of that wasn't enough for this little guy, I then added white dots across the entire body using the same acrylic/lit pigment mix. Unfortunately the pigment didn't take in all places but there are still quite a few glowing spots, like his face spots!

This final one is less successful. He just looks rather odd. Like a sort of strange bumblebee. But I'm sure someone will love him!

I hope you enjoyed! There are still a few to be finished so there will be more unicorns coming soon!

Painting, Painting, Painting

My hands are now pretty much always covered in paint and I had a massive fight with my airbrush (we are just about on talking terms again, it has promised to behave as long as I maybe use it a little less) but I am making really good progress with these customs. I am now working on a rate of painting one a day! That's quite impressive when you think one a month was an achievement before lockdown.

Even the custom category on the website actually has products in it for once! That is quite unusual: https://www.chestnutridge.co.uk/store/c3/custom-finish#/

So here are the new guys :D

Come Undone

First up is 'Come Undone' a Breyer Stablemate G2 Shetland that has been painted to a light bay. He has a little white star and a single white sock.

Commander

Second is 'Commander'. Commander is a Safari Mini (Toob) Shire that has also been painted to a light bay.

Communitarianism

This is one of my favourites of the bunch. He is a Peter Stone Chips Friesian that has been painted to a star dapple grey. A really dramatic looking model.

Communication Breakdown

This is the first of the new Mini Whinnie unicorns to be painted. This little guy had his horn removed before being painted to a dark bay with a white star.

CRS Calcareous Earth

Alchemy is a gorgeous Maggie Bennett micro resin 'Aquilla' who has been painted to a light dapple grey. This one is joining my ever growing herd of tiny resin things! He doesn't seem too pleased about it though...
