Celebration of Breyer Live Prizes & Raffle Prizes

I am very proud of myself in that I got everything for the show finished tomorrow. My horses are all packed, certificates are all cut out, prizes are all painted. Everything is packed and sorted. All I need to do is collect the food this evening and we are all good! This is a level of organisation I don't normally achieve so I'm feeling quite smug about it.

With less than 24 hours to go I thought I would share with you some of things that I've created for the show.

We are going to start with the section champion prizes. Each section champion will get a custom Breyer stablemate. I tried to pick slightly unusual colours for each one. I haven't decided which section will get which and will just pick random ones on the day. I know the MFT is definitely the most popular (I actually thought about painting another because I wanted to keep him so badly)! Let me know which one you want to win!

Anyway, here they are :D

First up is a Breyer G4 Paradressage to a bay blanket spotted (probably a pintaloosa). This mould works so nicely as a stock horse and I love this colour on her.

Next we have the only decorator in the bunch. I mean I had to do at least one unicorn! This is the Breyer G5 Warmblood Mare (unicorn variation). She has been painted to a black and pink unicorn. She actually has pink shading in her coat if you look carefully. Her hooves and horn are in a metallic pink paint.

Next we have a G2 Standardbred. This guy has been painted to a max white overo. I love how pink he is! You just know this horse is going to be a nightmare in the sun! He's a really unusual colour and something a little bit different for your show string.

Fourth is another extensive white pinto. This is a G2 Saddlebred that has been painted to an extensive splash white. I went with purple for her ribbon to pick up the blue in her eyes.

And now everybody's favourite, this is a Breyer M1 Missouri Fox Trotter that has been painted to a gorgeous shaded black sabino. I picked a reference I'd saved because of the horse's face marking. Although the horse in the reference was bay I went for a faded black instead and then copied the markings. I adore a black sabino and this guy is to die for, he is just gorgeous. He's definitely the one I want to win!

The final prize is a G3 Stock Horse that has been painted to a silver dapple with white markings. I wasn't too sure about this girl at first but I'm actually really happy with her. The shading is just beautiful.

I have also painted two models as prizes for the raffle. The first is a Breyer Paddock Pal, although I went with a very simple shaded black colour for this guy I thought it was quite cool to offer a custom Paddock Pal. You don't see many custom Paddock Pals around so I thought this would be a fun thing for someone to win.

Secondly, I wanted to offer a painted resin or pewter micro. I was going to do another piece but I had already decided I would probably sell this girl and thought instead I would offer her for the raffle. This is the Maggie Bennett Escape Foot Callie pewter. She has been painted to a lovely dun colour with no white markings.

All of these models will be available at Celebration of Breyer Live tomorrow. I always like to go all out for the shows I run and this one has been no different. Which one would you like to take home?

Elizabeth

This poor girl was finished weeks ago but has been sat in my study waiting to have her glamour shots taken!

Elizabeth is Sallie micro resin sculpted by Maggie Bennett. Sallie was available as part of the Micro Club back in 2019. She is the resin variation. Sallie was sculpted as a Shire mare but I have decided to paint her as a non-Shire colour so she can be a nice heavy Cob instead.

I painted Elizabeth to a beautiful smokey black with no white markings. Smokey black is an unusual colour as in reality it is very hard to distinguish from a normal black horse. The key is it has a lot more shading and appears almost a bit 'duller', but in reality it is almost impossible to tell! I didn't have a smokey black horse in my collection so, as part of my project to add as many missing colours as possible, decided to paint a suitable model.

She has been painted in airbrushed acrylics with pastel shading. She has hand painted details. I left her with no white markings as I was really happy with her coat colour and it was just nice to have something without lots of white!

I wanted to give her a proper girl's name and having gone through a really long list I settled on Elizabeth, I then decided she might as well keep it as her show name as well, it just suits her. She's a proper Cob mare, nothing special or fancy, but probably a real sweetheart. So she didn't need a big fancy name, just plain Elizabeth.

I did hit a slight hiccup when I realised there is literally no space left in my china cabinet and she's actually quite big for a micro. I found a small gap next to a medallion and slotted her in, I won't be getting many more in though!

Two New Customs

I feel like I haven't really painted in ages so it was really nice to sit down and get some painting done over the last few days.

I needed to finish the roan custom that we are giving away this month on our Facebook page but I also wanted to work on getting some of my resins painted. I am getting slightly bored of the passive aggressive comments from my husband about how I never paint any my resins and how many unpainted ones I have, so I am working on making sure that several get complete!

I had a nice morning finishing these two off and listening to my audiobook. The light was good, although I have also added a new light to my study which means I can now easily paint on dark dreary days (like today for example)! I also did a bit of work on a few other models that I have been working on for a while, but these are the two that I finished.

Roan Fighting Stallion

The first model is this gorgeous roan fighting stallion. This model is Stablemate scale and is the M1 Fighting Stallion. I love these cute little shrinkie Traditional scale models and adore painting them. They always look so lovely.

When I was thinking of what model would be a great choice for the roan prize to be offered in my competition this guy just struck me as the perfect choice. As a Mustang I have real freedom of colour and roan suits him so well. He will be an easy model for his new owner to show as the colour suits the breed well.

He is painted with airbrushed acrylics, pastels and hand painted acrylic details. I started with his base coat using an airbrush to build the colours up slowly from light to dark. I then airbrushed white paint to give full roaning across the coat. I used hand painted acrylics to add some more detail to his roaning and then some pastels for a little bit of shading. His details were finished off in hand painted acrylics with gloss on his eyes and hooves.

I named this cute little guy Keep Your Eyes on me. As always he is named after a song, do you know this one?

If you want to give a home to this model then head along to our Facebook page and enter our look-a-like competition. This is open until April 30th. Click here to see the post.

Perlino Cob

The second model is a super cute little resin cob. This is one of the Maggie Bennett micros. I have so many of these guys it is getting completely out of hand so I always feel good when I paint one!

The model is 'Offerman' and is a Pewter micro that was released as part of the club in 2019. So yes this poor guy has been sat here for nearly 6 years with no clothes! At least he is finally finished. He is a cute little bowing Cob with plenty of fluff.

I have named this more CRS Phosphorus which just seemed to suit. No shortened name, he can just be Phosphorus!

I painted him to an adorable perlino colour. I wanted to do a perlino as I actually don't have a solid custom perlino so I thought if I had full freedom of colour with a Cob I would pick a colour that I did not already have! I gave him heavy white markings as is often seen with American style Vanners.

The model is painted with airbrushed acrylics and then has been finished off with some pastelling. I used some of my new metallic pastels to give her coat a slight shimmer, something which is often seen on double cream models.

Which is your favourite out of the pair?

Pinho

I finished this guy ages ago but apparently I didn't catalogue him or upload his pictures to the internet? I did with Susan but apparently Pinho was just rejected, poor little pony.

CRS Pinho Polido is a Mathilde resin by Leah Peretz and has been painted to a lovely buckskin pinto. I did her little base in a bronzy goldey colour which is nice and metallic.

Meet Susan

I told myself that I would finish five of the little resins and pewters I had been painting for Hen Party Live. I was a bit apprehensive that I would not be able to because, you know, life but actually just an hour or so painting yesterday and I finished off the first one!

This is CRS Satanic Bible (aka Susan). We are back on the 'banned books' names hence the slightly unusual name for this girl! Although I do think the name suits this little girl! That face! Bambi pulls this exact face all the time.

Susan is a 'The Warden' pewter micro by Maggie Bennett. She is an Arabian mare although obviously this little girl is going to be a PBA. I don't have many little resin Partbred Arabs (I have a fair few purebreds) so I thought partbred would be better. I also don't have a buckskin micro so it seemed like the right choice of colour!

She isn't perfect but she is kinda cute and she does look nice in photographs. I'll definitely be after another of this model to paint, I think she needs an equally angry sister!

Also I put her in the moss on the side whilst I was setting up the blanket and she looked so pretty! Like a tiny little fairy horse, especially next to this little flower. So I took like a THOUSAND pictures trying to get one that was perfect (my camera is very much on its last legs, as is my lens so they aren't great)!

I also managed to finish the gorgeous pinto Warmblood so I'll pop some pictures of him up tomorrow!
