Fields of Heather is the Sunday raffle model for this year's BreyerFest.

I'm not as in love with her as some of the others but she is definitely very nice. The colour really suits this mould.

Order of The Thistle

First of all what an amazing name.

Second of all I think I just died inside. Order of the Thistle is the Saturday raffle model for this year's BreyerFest and he is quite possibly the most beautiful thing I've ever seen (and I've looked in a mirror)





He's a stunning champage pinto the Hamilton mould. Absolutely incredible. Good job Breyer!

Tack Making Again

OK so I'm not taking part in Tack Making Month because I didn't quite expect to be on lockdown and therefore did not prepare a project, supplies or application.

However, I am getting into the spirit by making my first pieces of tack in over a year. I decided, for funs, that I would work through my Tack Making Guide that has been sat, unopened, on my desk for many moons.

The beginning starts with halters, so I'm making halters following their patterns and designs rather than my own. It's quite fun following a tutorial and not just doing my own thing!

The first is a simple brown leather headcollar with gold hardware:

The second is natural leather and bigger than the last one. It has more buckles. It was meant to have a lead with a chain but I didn't realise that so it got the same lead as the other one!

I'm currently also working on a headcollar with sheepskin padding. Hoping to have that finished by today! Although I'm not sure it's really sheepskin weather anymore!

Two New Customs

I've been quite busy over the last few days getting some painting done. In fact I'm finishing about a horse a day (there is one with gloss drying downstairs right now). Hopefully I should have some of those new mini whinnie moulds finished soon but as it stands I'm mainly finishing off the batch that have been sat around for several months.

So first up is this lovely chestnut pangare G2 ASB. I love her colour it is really subtle and suits her so well. She has white legs and a big white blaze.

Secondly is this cute little dapple grey G2 Appaloosa. I would happily keep this guy to add to my conga but I need to sell not keep! He has some star dapples and three white socks. So cute!

The nice thing is there is quite a lot of variety in some of the colours. Although there are still lots of chestnuts. I promise to leave my chestnut faze soon and stop this weird obsession with ginger things. But not until I've done just a feeeew more.

April's Photoshow is OPEN!

I hope you are all enjoying being inside, or being outside and risking the life of yourself, your family and all those you love so that you can serve your community (YOU ARE AWESOME PEOPLE).

Well if you are stuck inside may I recommend you pop outside to your garden and get some pics of your Traditional scale models because this month's photoshow is all about Traditionals!

It is open to all makes and models, the only requirement is that it must be approximately Traditional (around 1:9) scale. So this would include Breyers, Stones, Customs, Resins and anything else you happen to have that's about the right size.

Then you just need to upload your pictures into each album. Click on 'photos' and then 'albums' and then select the album you want. Each class has its own album.

Tiny Breyers

A few days ago Breyer posted this picture on their Facebook page:



The wording (and the fact that it was April 1st) gave many to believe it was an April Fools joke.

They said:

Rugged Lark, one of our most beloved stock horse sculptures, first debuted in 1989. With his calm expression and quiet gait, this fellow is sure to be a welcome addition to Stablemates fans’ herds – the coat color of this particular release was inspired by one of our later Rugged Lark models, Patch.

Well turns out it was an April Fools joke. But also SAVAGE Breyer savage. So much shade for one o your own moulds!

Anyway the real fan favourite Stock Horse Mould mini is...SMART CHIC! Look how tiny and cute he is in ickle form:



I can definitely see this theme being replicated for the BF Single Day Stablemates. It would be really cool if they were all mini versions of the bigger special runs!

So what moulds would you like to see in tiny form? Personally I would like:

Silver
Clydesdale Mare (to go with the ickle stallion)
Clydesdale Foal
New Welsh Mare & Foal Set (they would be ADORBS)
Bobby Jo

And wouldn't it also be awesome if they did it the other way round and did big versions of the ickle ponies? Imagine how poor I would be if they did a big G2 Appaloosa....

Two New Customs

One major advantage of the time being spent in isolation is that I have plenty of time to get on with painting. It's a bit worrying then that after nearly 2 weeks of being stuck in the house all day I'm only just actually finishing some horses!

Anyway, they are at least finished and with lots more on the way I'm going to take some time to share with you the first two 'isolation customs' as I have decided they shall be called.

Come Back

Come Back is a Schleich Arabian mare. Not the best mould in the world but the colour came out really nicely on her.

I absolutely love her mane, the subtle colour shift works really well and she does take a very pretty headshot!

Here is a shot of her I took for a photoshow. Although she is for sale as we aren't shipping anything atm I thought she could enter a show and show herself off!

Apastron

Apastron is a beautiful AA Cupid foal. He has been painted to a lovely decorator with a black coat and celestial themed markings.

I love his ickle white stripe! Even though he's a decorator he still has cute little face markings.

Finally here is a shot of him with his new mummy, Celestia. I thought they would make the perfect pair. Nebula the cat isn't sure what to think though!
