My Favourite Websites: Schleich Wiki

Over the years I've shared lots of websites with y'all that are invaluable to any model horse collector. Today I received an email from a customer asking about how they could keep track of their Schleich collection, so in response to that I thought I would share one of my favourite resources, the Schleich Wiki page!

Toy Animal Wiki is a great resource record for the different CTF toy brands. But the one that I think we all find most useful is the Schleich page.

https://toyanimal.info/wiki/Schleich_Horses

The website isn't the best if you don't have some idea of what the horse you are looking for is. It is better for finding information about the model in order to put it in your records. It gives the years produced and also the product code which is really useful!

It is also missing some information here and there but generally speaking is very useful and up to date.

If you are looking to ID a model I recommend that you start by either Googling an approximation of what you think it looks like (is it a Holsteiner? a Lipizzaner? a Shire?) or you use this website: http://www.toydreamer.com.au/schleich1.asp?toytype=knights to help you find the model you are looking for.

I hope that proves helpful for my fellow Schleich collectors :) Remember you can also download a model horse spreadsheet from our website here: https://www.chestnutridge.co.uk/free-downloads.html#/

Ten Stunning Circus Costumes to Inspire You

I just love sparkles, and feathers, and colour, so it is no surprise that one of my favourite things to create is circus costumes!

But it is hard to feel sparkly in the long dark nights of January so here are ten stunning sparkly costumes to inspire you to create something beautiful this month.

1. This tiny lion pony!

2. Black and white simple design with feathers

3. This adorable pair of ponies decked out in bright red

4. These beautiful blue plumes and simple silver tack

5. How did we get all the way to five without pink? I'm not sure! Here's some pink :D

6. This stunning vintage pair with pink, blue and yellow feathers

7. More red plumes with matching yellow tack

8. This beautiful blue and silver tack set and stunning rider dress!

9. To finish we have two variations on the pegasus costume, this one has some gorgeous sparkles

10. And this one is modified so that it can be ridden in

I hope this has provided you with a bit of January inspiration, have you created a circus costume? If so do share it with me!

In The Studio - January 2022

With a steely determination I will paint some things this year! So I am using the mode of public accountability to share what is in my studio and then be forced into finishing models because I'll be so ashamed that I have not finished them!

Model One

Colour: Rainbow zebra stripe suncatcher semi-transparent

Model Two

Mould: Schleich Pinto
Scale: Paddock Pal

Some of these are actually nearly finished. The first suncatcher is just being sealed and the roan Schleich is also nearly ready sealing.

Clydesdale Christmas

Breyer started issuing holiday blind bags a few years ago and I've never really thought they were worth the pennies, especially with the cost of international shipping from Breyer.

But this year they have really knocked it out of the park! To be clear I am absolutely OBSESSED with the Stablemate shrinkies and in particular the tiny little Clydesdale Stallion mould. It is honestly the cutest thing EVER! So it goes without saying that I am going to lose my mind over any new shrinkie Clydesdale release. But you then combine that with lush bright Christmassy colours and I am 100% GOING TO LOSE MY MIND!!!

I 10/10 need a COMPLETE SET, I mean just LOOK AT THEM *SCREAMS*

OK so let's focus for a moment and actually talk about the details. Collector's Club members will get early access from 2pm EST Tuesday 16th November 2021 (that is 7pm GMT) until Wednesday. On Wednesday (2pm/7pm) they will be available to everyone. They are limited to two per account and have a limited quantity. Breyer have not released the price but the holiday surprise bags are normally $25 so I think you'd be expecting to pay about that much.

They seem to be super popular (I mean of course they are) so I wouldn't be surprised if they sell out fast! Unfortunately the limit on orders mean that international people can't get together to buy some *internal crying* and save on postage though :(

Which colour is your favourite? Mine is definitely the blue, he is BEAUTIFUL. Let me know your favourite and whether you've managed to grab one in the comments below :D Good luck as always!

Brunhilde and Astrid

So first off let's start with Astrid, after a wait that seems to have taken forever Astrid has finally arrived in the USA and is available to purchase for Breyer Premier Club members!

She comes in matte and glossy finish, although I'm a huge glossy fan, for this release I personally much prefer the matte finish, I just think it suits her grulla colour a lot more than the glossy one does (I know I know this is shocking news for me).

If you are a Premier Club member you can login to your Breyer account and order her now!

Several people have also noted that the colour seems different on the matte and glossy versions. The key thing I noticed was that the glossy version doesn't have the black line detail around the ear. Having seen in hand versions of both today it appears that they are using the artist proof as the matte image which has more detail, sadly neither seem to have that little ear detail, it's a small thing but it would have made her so much prettier.

It's a gorgeous sculpture though and I'd love to get a custom one on the mould in the same colour, I'm sure Deb Brown could do me a stunning one :D

And in more exciting news the second Breyer Collector's Club model of the year, Brunhilde will be released today at 1pm EST! We got a hint of Brunhilde in the 2021 JAH but no details on when she would be released.

She is being sold on first come first serve with no back orders, so you are going to have to be super quick if you want one! If you are in the UK she will be available at 18:00 Tuesday 9th November 2021.

I just love the shading on her face! She looks like she is going to be gorgeous.

Good luck if you are going to attempt to get one! Let me know in the comments below if you manage it, may the tiny model horse gods forever be in your favour.
